CHESS ... TEN WAYS TO SUCCEED IN THE MIDDLEGAME

Tips for young players in the middlegame in chess

by Tim Onions and David Regis

This books tells you about the heart of chess - the middlegame - in a format designed for young players. It uses large clear type and is illustrated throughout with many chess diagrams and cartoons.

You will learn how to think about your position, how to spot tactics and work out cobinations of moves, and how to make a plan for all your pieces.

  • Tim Onions ... is a primary school teacher who runs various chess clubs for children. He  manages Devon Junior Chess teams, and organises junior chess tournaments and residential events.
  • David Regis ... is a researcher in health education who plays chess for Exeter and Devon. He runs coaching for Exeter Chess Club and Exeter Junior Chess Club. He once came last in his class at Art; the cartoons inside are all his fault.
  • Between them they have 25+ years experience of coaching juniors at chess. Each book in the series uses clear English and lots of diagrams to help the reader, with cartoons to brighten the mix.
